It's Official

The NHL be done.

I'll let y'all have your laughs for now, but one of these days we're gonna have a little talk about how awesome hockey used to be. So sad. So very sad.

G'night, sweet prince.

sad day indeed, nhl hockey 94 for the sega genesis truly captured my heart for the sport, and it has been on a heavy decline ever since, man that game kicked ass.

but all is not lost, there have been numerous suggestions on how to make the sport work (i.e eliminating ties and embracing the shootout etc.) and in time i think the sport can and will be saved

A few weeks ago, Donnie and I had a pretty good plan to blow up the NHL and replace it with a 16-team league, eight teams here in the US and eight in select European cities.

It was a brilliant concept, if I can say so myself, and hopefully we'll get the energy to post it up for here Bettman and Goodenow to read and weep about. Bettman loves Slack, I'm told.

Hockey fucking rocked in the '90s -- it was by far my favorite sport to both watch and play growing up. Not a Saturday or Sunday afternoon went by when the Jericho Boys weren't playing in the Jackson parking lot. We went to Nassau Coliseum and MSG all the time. The 94 Rangers are still my favorite champions of all time, they beat any of those Yankees championships (barely, just barely).

But that strike after the Rangers won the Cup, as well as the most ridiculous over-expansion in business history, just killed interest in the sport for everyone but die-hards. And rightfully so.

"Well, I used to love her, but it's allll over now."
