Bux + The Duo + Rain = Oh My!

An evening with Bart Starbux, the Benevento/Russo Duo, horribly unfriendly bartenders, a shit-ton of rain while waiting to get in and standing on a stool at the back of the room to see the boys play. Now that's what I call a Thursday night in the big city.

So I can barely open mis ojos this morning, but I gotta get started on some worky-work. In the meantime, enjoy the Pope's funeral, this list of the top 10 best rock movies of all time from whoever the hell the Daily Breeze is and this story about Duke's Indian giving (I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with that term). I'll be here all day, folks.

Also, Hoobs just passed this along. Just to let you all know, there ain't no swimmin' in this show.

That sucks about the Duo show last night. I was gonna go, but ended up having to do a ton of homework. How'd they sound?

They sounded awesome, as usual, although I enjoyed the Langerado performance a bit better (due mainly to external factors like getting douched with rain on the way in). Did you see them down there at Langerado, offpeak? They opened with that song Becky, which is just a tremendous number.

Joe Russo is easily the sickest drummer on this it's not even up for debate. I've never seen anyone look quite like he looks when he goes at it. And Marco B, while looking like a heroin-addicted Williamsburg scenester, is just amazing at what he does. He plays like 12 instruments at once. I will see these guys every time they come to NYC, that is confirmed.

But as Starbux and I discussed, I think they're gonna have to add someone if they ever want to blow up huge. True, they do sound like there are more than just two of them up there, but I don't think they can make it to rock star status without a gee-tar or something.

Yeah, I saw them at Langerado and was standing right at the rail, I really enjoyed that. The first time I saw them was this past summer at the Headcount Benefit with Gordon, and that was absolutely amazing. I definately want to see them any time they come around the area, they rock, but yeah, I completely agree that they would need to add someone in order to blow up. I guess only time will tell.

Ya know, the funny thing about reading all those Tyson quotes is that I feel like I like him even more.

As in, if he were my insane, huge, black, convict friend, he'd totally destroy someone for me as long as I did something simple and nice for him like share my skittles.

Perhaps he is one of the most misunderstood psychopaths of our generation.
