Five Noon Links

1. From Noonan's blog (and the comments of this morning's post):

"Bernard Goldberg was on the Daily Show last night promoting his new book, 100 People Who Are Screwing Up America. You can watch the video at Crooks and Liars. It's pretty amusing."

2. From a Jacob Eli e-mail: "this is the strangest yet most oddly enjoyable mindless page i've ever seen. you gotta put it up..."

And put it up I will. You can actually control the falling lady with your mouse. That sounded dirty, but it's true.

3. From a story that could only have come from Florida, which as many of you know from previous Slack posts, I'm trying to cede back to Spain (fuckin' paperwork snafus and ownership rights): "Dad Boxed With 3-Year-Old, Mom Says In Murder Trial"

Ready for the sickness? Remember, this kid was three years old: "He was trying to teach him how to fight," said Shanita Powell, Nysheerah Paris' sister. "He was concerned that the child might be gay."

4. From the You're On Your Own, Folks file...here's a scorcher from the Jakarta Post: "Penile gourd wearers, affectionate hubbies and tennis fans beware." I got nuthin'. Absolutely nuthin'.

5. From the desk of Letter D, his well-written ode entitled "How Jessica Alba's Ass Saved Hollywood." Good read, good ass.

that boxing story is sickening. it's abuse like that that contribute to troubled kids being sent to brat camp in adolescence. anyone watch that show last night? best part was a girl pooping in the middle of the camp area, then having to cleaning it up. she was known as the "phantom dooker." a good band name. "for one night only, from their brand new album 'crapping in the wind,' please welcome the phantom dookers!"

I missed the show, but kinda wanted to tune in. I like seeing bratty kids get it, 'cuz I never did and I deserved it.

Speaking of band names, does anyone know the origin of the "Show me the fever/Into the fire/Taking it higher and higher" song from Wet Hot American Summer and this week's Stella? That song is f-in' awesome...

So boxing cures gay? I never realized that.

Well, you learn something new everyday.

One thing that bothers me about the disgusting stories like the one about the man who boxed his son to death is that these stories often treat the mother as an innocent victim. In reality, the mothers are despicable people who let these violent men around their children and deserve to be locked up.
