Good Rumor for NYC Folks

Cream to Perform at MSG

“Cream will perform three shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden on October 24, 25 and 26. While no official statement has been made, these performances are believed to be the band’s first full stateside shows since disbanding in the late 1960s. As previously reported, Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker reunited in early May for a series of appearances at London’s Royal Albert Hall. With the exception of a 1993 reunion at the band’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, those three shows marked the group’s first performance since disbanding in 1968. Be sure to check back in the coming weeks for more information.” --Relix, 7/12

I actually heard on New York’s classic rock station Q104.3 on Tuesday that one of the key problems holding up the announcement is the fact that Ginger Baker has some decades-old drug charges against him, and he’s actually worried the DEA might pick him up in the States. That sounds preposterous, but then again, no it doesn’t…

As an added bonus, in case the rumor turns out to be false, we found some old pictures of Cream at the self-proclaimed World’s Most Famous Arena, November 2, 1968.

Slack Song of the Day: This site wasn't workin' for me before, but hopefully it'll work for you by the time you click these. Here are a couple of Cream shows from 1967...

Oh, and the Academy of Televisions Arts and Sciences announced this year's Emmy nominations this morning...not a bad job, Deadwood and Arrested Development definitely got some good play. And let me just say for the record, if Ian McShane loses to either Spader, House MD, Hank Azaria or Quiefer Sutherland, I will wreck things with my bare hands. And if someone can explain to me why Deadwood's Trixie wasn't nominated, I'd like to know...

Cream? Drugs? No way. Seriously? I thought songs like "She Walks Like a Bearded Rainbow" and "Pressed Rat and Warthog" were inspired by the writings of Beatrix Potter.

Anyone watch the Daily Show last night? Was that author one of the reporters from Gumbel to Gumbel (i.e., Real Sports)? Stewart was KILLING him.

How do you think that the FCC is going to handle the indeceny issue when Penn & Teller's Bullshit! is announced as best reality TV show?

Bullshit, by the way, is a GREAT show. I've only seen three or four episodes, but that Penn character does good work. Kind of like a Mythbusters for ill-conceived logic (obviously the War on Drugs being dumb is my favorite, because it is sillier than silly string).

Taste that? That's the taste of beach justice.

Don't know where that Daily Show idiot came from, but he I did see him get his ass handed to him by Jon Stewart. Actually, I thought Stewart should've let him speak a little more, not because the guy had anything good to say, but because he was named Bernard.

Seriously, though, that was O'reilly-like inviting a guy to be on your show just to pound him in the ass.

Also, anyone notice an advertisement for Tucker Carlson's new show on Com Central DURING the Jon Stewart Daily Show?

Was it Bernie Goldberg last night? That guy used to be pretty level headed (always conservative, but level headed) until he realized he could make a bazillion bucks by copying Sean Hannity.

Bullshit rules. It should definitely win. It would be even better if the specific episode on profanity won.

Can someone give me a rundown of how Stewart handed him his ass?

That's some good stuff right there...

I love how he can say spics, kykes, faggots and then say black people are "you know whats."

Stewart actually makes some great points...

Trixie wasn't nominated because she's just a hooker. I don't know. Looks like the Doc and Calamity Jane were overlooked too. Why don't they just give all the awards to Deadwood and call it a day? Nothing else even comes close.

all this talk of "cream" and not one mention of the angry dragon? even from mulgrew?

it's time to get your heads back in the gutter, gents.

Trixie was a hooker, but you know she had a heart of gold...hookers with hearts of gold always win big awards. Always, it's a rule. Write that down.

Ethan, point well taken. But we here at Slack like to treat women with respect and courtesy at all times. You should know better.
