And I'm a Geek?

Check out this guy's love for the Rolling Stones..."I've been with him since he was 13 -- never a day without a Rolling Stones T-shirt," said his wife, Lisa.

He puts us Phish dorks to shame.

If this dude's wearing boots that make him one and a half feet taller then he belongs at a David Bowie concert not a Stones concert.

And how pissed would you be if this guy was standing in front of you?

I remember girls getting bitched at for using umbrellas at the Keyspan Phish show during a monsoon because it was an obstruction.

Somebody shoudl shiv this guy Altamont style.

I agree about the shiv, but I was also one of the people pissed about umbrellas at Brooklyn.

No fuckin' umbrellas, you do what you gotta do to stay dry without messing up the guy behind you, that's my philosophy.

From my 6/18 post on the first Keyspan show: "I would like to take this time to discuss umbrellas...They may be laughing at us this morning, but those douchebags who brought umbrellas into the show and blocked the sightlines of those behind them seriously need to be spayed or neutered. I mean, this one chick in front of us had on a big floppy (donkey dick) hat AND a raincoat hood, and this dumb bitch still put up an umbrella. As we remarked at the time, and subsequently screamed at her, that's like having an extra pair of gloves in Aspen. This whole time, you had an extra pair of gloves?"

So there.

Ace,

I was immediatlet drawn to this post seeing the Stones in it. Let it be known that I happen to be a HUGE Stones fan myself. Got the Stones lips logo tatooed on my shoulder when I was 20 (15 years ago), saw them first at 11 years old at Hartford CC in '81 w/my parents (totally cool hippie rockers)...have loved them forever. Favorite album is Exile...I simply never get sick of the Stones. Have seen them 15 times...have tix to their San Diego show in November and am planning to see them in Vegas as well. A Dead fan forever, Phish since about '92 and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the jam scene...listen to all of that the most...but when it comes down to it...you ask my my favorite band...it's gotta be the Stones. On some days it's a tough call...especially when I'm sooooo lovin' Phish but...gotta stay true to my roots. Wow...apparently I needed to get that off my chest. : )

wow - middle school sweethearts. that may be more insane that his stones fetish.

Wow, Rich, that's some serious rambling right there! So Trey opening two shows for the Stones is kinda like your own personal Holy Grail -- or to borrow a premise from PCU, Caine and Hackman in the same movie.

Caine and Hackman in the same movie together! This is my thesis, man, this is my closing argument!

Let's get one thing straight Ace; I'm not standing up for that bitch with the umbrella. If you'll recall, I was standing right behind that chic calling out for tunes like "umbrella blues" and "visual obstruction jam."

And while were on the topic, I'll go so far as to say this: If your over 6'3'' you shouldn't be allowed to go to general admission concerts. And if you do go, for the love of shit, stand in the back.

Just like roller coasters, there should be a sign that says "If your this tall then you can't see the show."

My mistake, Kenny. Proceed.

And yes, I couldn't agree more about the height restriction. I think my buddy Snacks will argue with you, but other than that, tall people should have no legal rights at concerts. Get a seat.

...nice PCU reference, Ace. And yea, I'm digging Trey opening for the Stones. Imagine the Loving Cup...and he recently did Sway on his spring run. I know Trey's gonna be out west this fall...crossing my fingers for a San Diego opener. Well..sort of, I guess...when it really comes down to it I'd rather just see Trey...I'll be way to pumped for the Stones to appreciate and take Trey in. I don't typically make it into the openers at Stones shows.

It seems that what this postal employee lacks in physical stature he makes up for in devotion to mediocre rock bands.

Oh snap. That's right. I said it. The Stones just aren't that good. With the possible exceptions of:

Dead Flowers
or
She Comes in Colors
or
Paint it Black
or
Gimme Shelter (only cuz of the chick singing with Mick)
or
Wild Horses
or
Waitin on a Friend

But come on, after a bizillion albums they were bound to have a few good ones.

"The Stones just aren't that good"

...nah, I'm not biting GypsyRose. I've calmed a bit in my old age when it comes to defending my heros. :) And was that an "oh snap"?

She Comes in Colors was a good song, however I like She's a Rainbow better.

Snap it on back now.

Yeah. Yeah. I realized I misnamed it right after I posted it. That's what I get for picking a fight.

Picking a fight were you?? So you admit it heh, Gypsy? Oh man...and I didn't bite...I guess I've just been there to many times.

My take is you need to open up to more of the Stones catalog. The tunes you did mention...I would only keep Dead Flowers and Gimme Shelter...and I'm a huge fan. If you like Dead Flowers you should really check out Sweet Virginia and Torn & Frayed off of Exile on Main St. And while you're at it take a listen to Loving Cup, Let it Loose,Soul Survivor and Shine a Light. Then mozy on over to Sticky Fingers and que up Can't You Hear Me Knocking really loud followed by Moonlight Mile, Sway and Sister Morphine. Then if you still consider them a mediocre band go get Goats Head Soup and listen to Winter, Can You Hear the Music and Starfucker and if you still don't like them..then get Beggars Banquet and listen to Jigsaw Puzzle, Parachute Woman, Salt of the Earth and Stray Cat Blues.....obviously I could go on and on but I'd rather not just list a bunch of the Stones classics hidden away on their many albums of original material. The Stones are so much more than just Jumpin' Jack Flash and Start Me Up...oh, and of course the classic, She Comes in Colors...do yourself a favor and see them live this time around...you'll find yourself quite impressed and happy as hell you saw them.

off topic, but she comes in colors is also the name of a Love song. it's kind of a perverse song about having sexy-time during certain time of the month. incidentally Love is a fantastic, underrated psychedelic band from the late 60's. ace has heard me go on and on about them before. their version of hey joe gets my feet tapping.

Okay, I promise to download some of those songs that I don't know. Actually, Salt of the Earth should have been on my list. I thought that it was very cool, and appropriate, that they did that at the concert for the September 11 rescue workers.

..........and that's gross Hoobs. I'm downloading it now.

Right-on, Gypsy. I want a full report. :)

Hoobs...I know the song and the band...very nice call!
