Bob Novak Does...

...what you all think he's gonna do......which is just flip out!

I watch a lot of CNN for some reason -- from 8:30 am to 6 pm, it's what's on my tele at work. Unless them Yank'ums have a day game on the ol' schedule, I'm tuned into the hilariously dubbed Most Trusted Name in News all day. It's honestly worse than torture sometimes, but it's also reeeally fun to make fun of the anchors and guests.

As an added bonus, every once in a while you get to see some pretty cool live shit. I actually watched the Jon Stewart fiasco on Crossfire as it was unfolding. And I watched in disbelief when not one but two prank callers made it on air in one day, with the second one claiming to be the Mayor of San Diego as wildfires raged through the region -- he said the fires were "started by a blast of wind from Howard Stern's asshole" and promptly hung up.

There was a great one yesterday, too. Apparently James "Slightly Ugly" Carville got under Bob "Please Die Now" Novak's skin on an episode of Inside Politics, and Bobby didn't take too kindly to the prodding. While discussing the Floridian Senate race with Katherine Harris, Novakula and Carville were speaking over each other at loud volumes. Carville yielded the floor to his colleague, but not before saying, "He's got to show these right wingers that he's got a backbone, you know. It's why the Wall Street Journal editorial page is watching you. Show 'em that you're tough."

Well that was it. Novak freaked. He said, "Well, I think that's bullshit, and I hate that," before walking out. CNN suspended him, which means my afternoon television watching is less filled with old vampire-men. You can watch the damning Novak video here. Please do. And write him letters telling him he needs Depends. And aslo a new haircut. Douche.

Novak, what a tool.

Slack Song/Show of the Day: This probably should have been yesterday's SSOTD, but better late than never. Lukas and I went down to the Knitting Factory Wednesday night for a free show -- Club D'elf with special guest John Medeski. The lineup was a little different from the 3/31/05 show I saw with Johnny M, but it was just as fun. They played for nearly two hours, starting slow and spacey but really finding a goove for the last hour-plus.

Incidentally, these guys are playing a free show at the Knit every Wednesday for the rest of August. Next week we're going to celebrate Lukas' birthday by going down to see Clap Your Hands Say Yeah at South Street Seaport and then heading up to the Knit for Club D'elf with special guest star Marco Benevento (one half of the incredible, edible Duo). You should come with, both shows are free and it's going to be a sweet time.

Here's that Club D'elf show with Medeski I saw with maybe 25 other people on 3/31/05 at Coda in NYC. A little trippy, but good times.

Ace, can you put Novak's not taking the heat and subsequent getting out of the kitchen in some context for me? Why was he suddenly so pissed off?

Was Carville secretly giving him an over the pants hand job? His arm doesn't appear to be moving in a masturbatory fashion, but who knows what's goin down under the table.

There ain't much context...I know they were planning on asking him about the CIA leak situation, so maybe he took that opportunity to barge off the set to get out of answering tough questions. But Carville definitely gave him a good ribbing with that line, and the old man apparently couldn't take it.

Still, I wouldn't rule out the hand job. Dirk's mom jerked him off, I hear.

Didn't see it yet...I wanna go tonight, but not sure if I'll pull the trigger on that.

I watched the last 10 minutes of the X Games while trying to tune in for SportsCenter. And you know what? I was hooked! Even the non-crashes were pretty cool!

That dude Chuck Carothers ate some serious shit on that bike. Good times.
