Healin' in Denver

Holy balls, this is nuts!

"Singer Marc Cohn, known for the 1991 smash hit 'Walking in Memphis,' was shot in the head Sunday during an attempted carjacking in Denver but survived, his manager said Monday.

Cohn has been treated and released from Denver Health Medical Center, his manager, Karen Malluk, said in a written statement.

'Marc Cohn was shot in the head above his right temple. The bullet was lodged in his head but has since been taken out,' Malluk said."

Did you see Drudge's weird headline?

Husband of ABCNEWS anchor Elizabeth Vargas shot in head...

Maybe I haven't been watching the news like I used to, but I definitely would know Marc Cohn before Elizabeth Vargas.

I saw that too. Who the hell is Elizabeth Vargas? Cohn won a few grammy's AND he was the one who got shot. Walkin in Memphis is a kick ass song.

355 days ago I put up a post about this song that got like 17 comments. And that was before we had a real readership, so by inflationary standards, that's like 40 comments.

People love Walkin' in Memphis, and they should. Vargas can eat my pantalones cortos.

nina and i almost used a marc cohn tune as our wedding song. we opted against it because of some line about making love that would've been weird in front of parents/grandmas everywhere.

Shot. In the head? What the hell? Still alive? I don't know whether that's good or not.

Pat McGee does a great cover of Walking in Memphis, which is a sweet song in and of itself.

I'm with JP in the "what the hell?" comment. How do you get shot, probably at close range, right above the temple and have the bullet lodge into your skull, and walk out of the hospital the next day pretty much good to go? Was the car jacker shooting plastic BB's?

Ethan, let me guess - True Companion. My Mom brought that one up a few years ago for my sister's wedding, though it was ultimately discarded for a song so unmemorable that I can't even remember it.

By the way, Marc Cohn's entire first album (featuring Walking in Memphis) is awesome. He later sucked bologna balls, however.

Also, am I making this up, or was he in some way involved with that Grammy Scandal? You know, the one in which Shawn Colvin (did he produce her album? was he on stage?) won some award, maybe for best new artist, and Old Dirty Bastard, possibly thinking they had announced Sean (diddy) Combs, rushed the stage and proclaimed that "Wu-Tang is for the Children!"???

He's dead now. huh.

That's what I'd like to know.

no doubt they were blasting lite fm or some other adult contempo in the van. those sounds of love must have stopped the bullet from killing him. it's the only explanation. it's an easy-listening miracle!

spanish mikey - that's it. good call on the rest of the album too.

now can we get a comment from joey buttafuoco's severed member?
