NFL Picks: Week #3

I went 9-7 for the week on Sunday, bringing my record up to 16-15-1 (I gave myself credit for a loss in Week #1 instead of a tie). As for my Best Bets, I'm 4-2 on the season after my second-straight two-fer-tree performance.

With my 16-15-1 record, I'm now occupying second place in the 15th Annual Cowboy Family Football Pool -- one game behind, yeah, my 81-year-old grandmother. What can I say, she knows her shit.

Onto the picks:
CHARGERS -6 over the Giants (Not one team this season who has traveled three time zones has covered the spread)
JETS -3 over the Jaguars
*RAMS -6.5 over the Titans
Raiders +7.5 over the EAGLES (Raiders will buck that trend)
Bengals -3 over the BEARS
VIKINGS -4 over the Saints
*Panthers -3 over the DOLPHINS
COLTS -13.5 over the Browns
BILLS -3 over the Falcons (Atlanta has shown me nothing)
PACKERS +3.5 over the Bucs
Cards +6.5 over the SEAHAWKS
Patriots +3 over the STEELERS (Pats are something like 5-1-1 as 'dogs over the last two or three seasons)
Cowboys -6.5 over the 49ERS
*Chiefs +3 over the BRONCOS (Am I the only person who thinks the Broncos are just abysmal?)

*Best Bets

Nice slate of games on Sunday: Let's hope the Jets can make it over .500, my Double Wing (Double Wing) fantasy team can improve to 3-0 and I go 14-0 in the picks...

i can't even believe the chefs are getting points in that game. i know 2.5-3 is a standard visitors cushion, but cmon. plummer is an odds-maker's worst nightmare.

also, ace, it's time for you to sack up and start putting some dough on your best bets. you're losing beer/cheeba $$ by the week.

I'm with you, Denver is horrible. Not only do they still start Jakey, but he may very well be combined with Ron Dayne this week.

I think the Titans will beat the Rams though, and almost certainly cover.

With Portis taking a bye this week, I have to start Travis Henry. I hope Tennessee covers, cuz that will likely mean Henry plays well. I just don;t see it happening.

And Ethan, the second I start betting is the second I start going 0-3. I've done this before, I know my luck.

then i may have to start betting on your top 3 picks for you. if i go to the casino tomorrow, i'll put some green on the rams, panthers, and chiefs.

Noonan, you're that down on the hero of your alma mater? Actually, I thought it was really hilarious how Dayne got that pitchout on the fourth-and-one on the crucial drive for the Broncos. Yes, he picked up the first down, but he would have had a lot more except that he somehow managed to run into Rod Smith's back even though Smith and the guy he was blocking were the only two people in an otherwise open expanse between Dayne and the end zone.

Do you really have a Cowboy family pool?? Your family rocks. And they smell fantastic.. I'd have paid a million dollars for that used j30.

Ringo, you rock. And Billy Zane does too. We've had a Cowboy Family Football Pool for as long as I can remember, though in the pat three years we've added my grandmother, cousins and several other hangers-on. Good times.

Ethan, why don't you bet every week and send me a check for 10% of the winnings after the season. I am a Human Vig.

Ron Dayne was a great college runner because of his size, but he's dumb as paint, and has not feel for the game.

Ace -you're not a J-E-T-S fan are you? Been one myself from day one. We still got season tix but since I'm living in FL, don't get a chance to go.

Used to watch 'em in Shea back in tha day. Anyway, Curtis 'my favorite' Martin may not go Sunday so look out.
