Is this the Cubbies year? First the Sawx, then the Sox, now the Cubs? Just makes sense in the karmic scheme of things.

Uh, Slack LaLane exists? I meant to say the same thing...

Neither of those teams had the handicap of being the 4th best squad in their division, however.

It would be awesome, tho.

It had better be their year. I'm sick to death of throwing so much love in their direction, only to be denied by the time the playoffs roll around.

the cubs still have a team?

while i'm excited on this day every year, this year is extra-special for us long-suffering brewer fans. we don't have much chance of winning the division this season, but looking around the infield and seeing weeks, hardy, fielder, hall, and hart brings about a healthy dose of hope-- the likes of which we haven't seen in 18 years or so...

Dude, I would be psyched as all hell to be a Brewers fan right about now. I got to see them play the Mets last season, and I watched a bunch of their games somehow, and these guys are all gonna be players.

If Capuano, Davis and Sheets can bring it, and if Turnbow can put together what he did last year, they'll at least be hangin around til September. And that's about all you can ask for from a young team.

Ya gotta admit, Geoff jenkins looks way too much like Brett Favre.

i'm already getting a huge kick out of the world baseball classic. i can't wait until everyone pulls out of the competition citing bullshit injuries and bob tewksbury will be pitching to damaso garcia.

Buster Olney is reporting Juaquin Andujar will be pitching against Bob Walk in the first USA/Domincan game.

You Yankee lovers are gonna swoon over Matt DeSalvo. He pitched for our beloved Marietta Pioneers (Also college of Kent Tekulve, Terry Mulholland, new Pirates Coach Jim Tracey, and last but not least Story Musgrave NASA Astronaut)oh yeah....and me. From what I hear he was invited to spring training this year. Just watch and bask in his awesomeness. Sure glad I went to Community Day at the park the year he was a senior...and really glad he signed a Community Day t-shirt. I believe he struck out 23 that day. Let the bidding begin.

That was me who struck out 23 that day. But I didn't sign any shirts. Sorry to disappoint you.

with any luck, carlos lee will be a blue jay come july, and brett favre... errr... geoff jenkins will be a twin (or indian or something), and the schwag we get in return will be the fuel for our 3 year championship run (2008-2010).

feel free to pray with me every night before bed that doug melvin has the balls to pull the trigger.

The Brewers should be a heck of a team this season, hopefully good enough to knock the Astros from their perpetual 2nd place finish.

Also, if the Cardinals happened to all die in some sort of horrific plane/bus/scooter/sniper accident, the I hope the Cubs finally do win the damn Series, if only to shut up all of my Cub fan friends and their constant crying about lack of Championships.

But, back here in reality (the place where Kerry Wood has never had 14 wins in back to back seasons) the only good thing to happen in the North Side of the Chi this year will be the sand volleyball and the Cards win walk away with yet another division championship.

Suckers!
