Win One for the Kippur

I'm a terrible Jewbag, so I won't fast today. I will see the Secret Machines at Irving Plaza later, but that's after sundown regardless.

But in honor of Sandy Koufax's sacrifice 41 years ago, this blog will observe the annual feel-good smilefest known as Yom Kippur and shut 'er down. We'll return cleansed and (self-)righteous tomorrow...

FYI, that picture comes from this site. It means something, but I have absolutely NO idea what that is. Looks like one of those Classic Concentration rebuses that Alex Trebek used to smugly reveal to contestants that wanted to win a Mazda 323. But what does it say?

Have fun at that show...I've got tickets to see them in La later this month...I've always thought they are one of the best live bands out there and I hear those in the round performances are pretty amazing...I also thought the latest album was severely underrated...it might now be as good as Now Here is Nowhere but its still solid in my book.

Slack,

Turned on to your blog by curmudgeon. Oddly enough, the public schools in Reading, MA are closed for Yom Kippur. I think they may be one of a very few towns in the state who are.

I mean, it sounds so made up: "Yom Kippur."

Who are these "Jews" I've heard so much about?

Enjoy the show tonight - be prepared to leave sockless as they will literally be rocked off. I walked out barefoot the last time I saw them.

I get to see them one week from tonight at Park West in Chitown. I'm still confused as to where the *round* will actually be placed, but w/e, I plan on leaving barefoot as well...
